Westfield Newmarket Premier Redevelopment

Since mid 2017, BVT have been working closely with the progressive Westfield team on the seismic design of one of their premier portfolio projects, Westfield Newmarket, which offers shoppers a premium lifestyle and retail experience. Our team were engaged to provide coordinated seismic design for the entire mall fit out, which includes design and construction monitoring (PS1 and PS4) for ceilings, partitions, shopfronts, suspended services and suspended equipment, as well as Christmas decoration mounting frames and way-finding signs.

Having appointed a committed BVT team to this project, the original design for consent was completed early in the project, allowing detail designs to be created as the special design features emerged. The majority of these elements are now complete and we are in the process of compiling the inspection reports and PS4 for the final stages of the project.

One of our primary challenges was creating a process and delivery structure that provided compliant design for numerous feature walls and ceilings, which were subject to frequent change. Whilst ongoing design changes in large-scale projects are common, they often result in significant delays to the project delivery time. Despite these challenges, we were very pleased to be able to provide solutions whilst adhering to the strict, original deadlines.

Below are some images of ceiling designs taking shape, taken during our routine inspections.

Westfield Newmarket's beautifully designed, bespoke fashion precincts will not only feature Auckland’s first David Jones department store, but a selection of carefully curated fashion, including premium, designer and international brands. Our team are very much looking forward to visiting this iconic fashion destination upon project completion later this year.
