Meet our new graduate team

We are excited to introduce you to our new graduate team for 2018. Our well known graduate program has produced many confident and successful engineers, the majority of whom are now BVT leaders.

If you’ve seen us at graduate events around the country, you will have heard that we are unapologetic about our wish to hire the very best people. This year’s intake is no exception and we are proud to welcome Josh, Zac, Marlon, Kit and James to the team.

What do we look for in our graduates?

Excellent technical skills are just the beginning. Our client base spans many different industries and job types, all looking for practical solutions, great service, and a quick turnaround. This means our graduates hit the ground running and begin working with our more senior team members on active jobs straight away. All our team members need to be able to adapt quickly to change and meet deadlines, so we look for resilience, perseverance, the ability to judge risk, and excellent communication skills.

We also look for people with interests outside of work and study where they have demonstrated mastery of skills or overcome adversity.

Meet Josh, Zac, Marlon, James and Kit

“Originally from Hawkes Bay, I moved down to Canterbury to study engineering. After graduating with honours in mechatronics engineering from the University of Canterbury, I joined BVT in January.

I’m looking forward to gaining experience on a wide range projects, and I’m excited to be working for a company with strong growth and a young, vibrant team. I can see there is clear potential for me here.

Outside of work I enjoy outdoor activities such as various sports, running, snowboarding, and hiking.”

“I moved up from Invercargill to study mechanical engineering at the University of Canterbury, and have now joined BVT as a graduate engineer.

I’m excited to have the opportunity to further my learning and gain a wide range of engineering experience, with the support of a young and energetic team.

In my spare time I enjoy hunting, boxing and mountain biking.”

“I graduated with a mechanical engineering degree with honours from the University of Auckland. I joined the BVT team at the start of 2018 as a graduate engineer, and look forward to working with an evolving industry alongside a young and motivated group.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing a multitude of sports and I look forward to exploring the South Island.”

“Originally from North Canterbury, I joined BVT at the beginning of 2018 after graduating from the University of Canterbury with honours in mechanical engineering.

As a graduate I am currently rotating through different teams in the company and learning about the different work and services BVT provides.

I’m excited to be a part of the team and looking forward to working alongside a young motivated group learning a wide variety of skills.

Outside of work, I’ve been involved in motorsport for over 10 years, competing at a national level in go-karting. I also compete in crossfit and olympic weightlifting.”

“I joined as a graduate in October of 2017 after graduating from the Otago Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in mechanical engineering. I’m looking forward to learning new skills across a wide range of industries as part of the BVT graduate program and working in a supportive team environment.

Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities and sports.”
