Health and Safety Reform Bill Draft Released

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has released a consultation draft of the new Health and Safety Reform Bill, the new legislation resulting from the Pike River Royal Commission and the Health and Safety taskforce investigation. This draft can be found here:

The purpose of the exposure draft is to provide an overview of the new legislation to interested parties, and to allow an opportunity for early comment. The bill itself will pass through the usual select committee process during 2014, which will provide another opportunity for submissions on the law.

Key aspects of the new legislation for our clients are the new duties imposed on designers, manufacturers, importers and suppliers of plant and equipment. Refer to sections 22 – 27 of the draft bill for further information.
