BVT’s graduate engineer recruitment program kicks off again this May. If you follow us on social media, you might have read that we’re an accredited Professional Development Partner (PDP) with Engineering New Zealand. This means the nation’s peak industry body recognizes our program as one that offers superior upskilling, intensive training and real, hands-on experience working on our major projects, not just the insignificant stuff or coffee runs.
“Due to the fast paced nature of our work I found myself working on a large variety of interesting projects really early on in my career, quickly gaining a lot of experience and essential engineering skills through the guidance of BVT’s senior engineers,” explains Craig MacDonald, who joined us as a grad and is now an Engineering Team Lead based in Auckland.
We’ll soon be on the hunt for graduate engineers who are curious, into exploring the latest tech, and seek to make an impact on the future of engineering (even if that’s quite a few years of experience away for you). We’ll give you a kick start towards the leading-edge.
Graduate engineer, Alan Watt, says that starting out at BVT means, “you’re on site and doing design work from day one. This balance of exposure means you fast track your learning curve to becoming a competent team member in a short amount of time. The warm, supportive and highly experienced team around you creates an enjoyable and dynamic environment.”
Our program can also lead you towards earning membership with Engineering New Zealand and all the career perks that come with it. BVT grad, Danny Mahoney, explains, “BVT encourages everyone to keep track of their professional development hours which is critical in becoming a member of Engineering New Zealand. There are also bi-weekly discussions set in place which have helped me learn a great deal about bi-cultural diversity, engineering ethics and health and safety.”
You’ll find that BVT is a company who is proactive and transparent about gender diversity, about flexible job roles, and about innovation. We welcome millennials and unlike traditional engineering firms, we don’t expect you to stick around forever. Many of our grads will eventually go on to spend a year or two abroad, before returning to BVT with a fresh perspective and diverse, professional experience.
Another of our grads, Suryaraj Salunkhe, says what he values most is, “how approachable everyone at BVT is. I feel like BVT is a big family and makes you feel included in everything, not only for the employees but also the clients. And I love working where ideas and innovations can be shared without hesitation.”
Securing a graduate role at BVT could be the start of a rich, rewarding – maybe even lifelong – career; no matter what route your personal journey takes.
