While attending the recent WorkSafe H&S presentation on Friday, 7th of March, BVT noted the announcement from WorkSafe that hose burst protection valves must be fitted to all new and used hydraulic excavators with an operating weight of 7 tonnes or more, after 1 January 2016.
This information can be found on the new fact sheet just issued by WorkSafe, titled “Using Quick Hitches Safely”, it can be found on the WorkSafe website, at http://www.business.govt.nz/worksafe or download the pdf here:Factsheet – Using Quick Hitches Safely
The full announcement on the Exemption of Equipment Capable of Load-lifting from MBIE can be found here:https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2013-go7996. It’s worth noting that this is a revision to an earlier gazette notice issued in 2010, which required Burst Valves to be fitted from January 2014.
